Group Therapy in Rochester, NY
A skills-based group experience for couples who want practical communication tools, guided practice, and a shared language for repair and connection.
Relationship patterns can feel private and isolating, even when many couples are struggling with the same cycles of escalation, withdrawal, misunderstanding, and disconnection. A structured group format can make room for learning without treating those patterns as personal failure.
Stronger Together is a skills-based offering that combines relationship education with guided practice. Couples learn a practical communication system, slow down familiar interactions, and develop clearer ways to listen, respond, and repair.
Stronger Together meets on the first Friday of each month from 5:00–6:30 p.m. at 1577 South Ave., Rochester, NY. The cost is $175 per couple, with a workbook included for each partner to use during the group and at home. Before registering, we’ll connect briefly to answer your questions and explore whether the group is a good fit for you both.
Common concerns
What brings you to therapy
Conversations quickly become defensive, critical, or shut down
The same conflict cycle keeps repeating without meaningful repair
You want a shared language for discussing difficult topics
It is hard to stay curious when emotions run high
You want structured practice rather than insight alone
Learning alongside other couples feels less isolating
Stronger Together combines education, demonstration, and guided partner exercises. The structure is intended to help couples practice new skills in real time rather than simply understand them in theory.
Drawing on Christina’s training in Imago Relationship Therapy, Stronger Together offers couples a warm, supportive space to practice new ways of connecting. Each partner receives a thoughtfully designed workbook with guided exercises to explore together during the group and continue at home. Couples learn to recognize the cycles that leave them feeling stuck, listen with curiosity, and turn frustrations into clearer expressions of needs and specific, meaningful requests.
The group format is not organized around comparison or forced disclosure. Participation expectations, privacy agreements, and the boundaries of the program are reviewed before the group begins.
What sessions can involve
A thoughtful process shaped around you
Stronger Together is a monthly group designed for partners to attend together. Each meeting may include teaching, demonstration, guided practice between partners, processing, and time to reflect on how the skills apply outside the group.
This skills group is distinct from individualized couples therapy and is not emergency or crisis care. A consultation can help clarify whether a group, couples therapy, or another form of support would be the better fit.
Common questions
Questions about this service
When is the next group offered?
The group currently meets the first Friday every month.
Is this the same as couples therapy?
Stronger Together is a focused, skills-based group offering centered on education, guided practice, and some processing. Individualized couples therapy is tailored more directly to one relationship's history, needs, and ongoing clinical work.
Do both partners participate?
Yes. Stronger Together is designed for both partners to attend and participate together. You’ll practice listening, expressing your needs, and making requests with guidance and support, so these skills become more familiar and easier to use at home—even when emotions run high.
Will we have to share private relationship details?
No. You will never have to share anything you do not want to. The group includes education, guided exercises, and processing the experience, not forced disclosure.
