Insurance
I am an out-of-network provider. Practicing this way keeps your care private and fully tailored to you, rather than to the limits of an insurance plan.
Each month I provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I'm glad to walk you through how to ask about your benefits.
A limited number of sliding-scale spaces are reserved for those with genuine financial need—please don't hesitate to ask.

Are You Eligible for Insurance Reimbursement?
Follow these steps below to get the information you need from your insurance company.
Step 1Call your insurance company
Look at the back of your insurance card and call the member services phone number listed under "Mental Health," "Behavioral Health," or "Customer Service." Let them know you are calling to verify your outpatient, out-of-network mental health benefits.
Step 2Find out if you have out-of-network benefits
Ask the representative: "Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services?" To be completely certain, you can provide them with these specific billing codes (called CPT codes):
- 90791 (for our initial intake session)
- 90837 (for our standard 60-minute individual therapy sessions)
- 90847 (if you are seeking couples/family therapy)
Step 3Find out if you owe a deductible before the coverage kicks in
Ask the representative: "Do I have an out-of-network deductible that I must meet before I can begin receiving reimbursements? If so, what is that total amount, and how much of it have I already met this year?" (Note: A deductible is the amount you must pay out-of-pocket for medical services before your insurance company starts paying or reimbursing you).
Step 4Find out how much your plan will reimburse you
Ask the representative: "Once my out-of-network deductible is met, what percentage of the session fee is reimbursed to me? Also, what is the 'allowed amount' for CPT code 90837?"
After our sessions, I will provide you with an itemized receipt called a Superbill. You will upload this directly to your insurance portal, and they will mail a reimbursement check directly to you based on your plan's specific percentage.
